The police officer accused of hitting Ayşe allegedly attempted to erase the evidence
According to the news in the Greek press, the 34-year-old policeman who hit Ayşe Kadri with his patrol car tried to remove the impact marks by taking the car to a repair shop he knew after the accident.
The police reportedly told the mechanic that he had hit a dog.
In a statement made through their lawyers, Ayşe Kadri's family stated that even a small detail about the accident is important for the clarification of the incident and called on the eyewitnesses to share all the details with the authorities.
Ayşe Kadri, who lived in Mizanli village, was seriously injured when she was hit by a police vehicle while walking on Wednesday, 6 December and died on Tuesday, 12 December at Kavala Hospital.
The 34-year-old policeman driving the patrol car, who called an ambulance and drove away from the scene after the accident, claimed in his first statement that he was an eyewitness to the incident, but later admitted that he hit the young woman with his patrol car.
