Hüseyin Zeybek, who has been elected as a deputy from the SYRIZA Party in Xanthi for years, was nominated as the first candidate by his party in the general elections to be held.

Hüseyin Zeybek is the name that has won seats for the SYRIZA Party, of which he is a member, from Xanthi for years.

In the general elections held on May 21, 2023, Hüseyin Zeybek managed to enter the parliament by getting the most votes among the 5 candidates of SYRIZA in Xanthi, with the support he mainly received from the Turkish minority community.

However, since none of the NDP, SYRIZA and PASOK parties, which completed the elections in the top three places, refused to form a coalition government, it was decided to hold the elections again on 25 June.

The SYRIZA Party placed the Turkish candidate Özgür Ferhat, who was elected to the parliament with the highest number of votes in Rhodope, at the top of the list, as well as the Turkish candidate Hüseyin Zeybek in Xanthi.

Hüseyin Zeybek, who was nominated as the top candidate for the 25 June elections by his party, gave a clear message to the Turkish minority voters of Xanthi by making a statement about the issue on his social media account.

Zeybek stated the following in his statement:

"Dear friends, dear young people.

The Syriza candidate lists that will participate in the 25 June elections have been announced. The list ranking has been determined according to the votes received in the 21 May elections.

Accordingly, as the top of the list of Xanthi Syriza party, I am in the first place as a deputy candidate. There is no preferential voting system in these elections, only the list will be voted on.

Elections are held with a new electoral system, the party that comes first will receive 50 bonus deputies according to the vote rate.

I request your votes to be your strong voice in the Assembly again.

Let's break these ugly plots against our minority at the ballot box together. We are in favor of equality, justice and right. For better future, for our children, let’s go all together."
