Interview poll puts New Democracy at 26.9%
The New Democracy remains in first place in voting intention with 26.9%, while the Greek Left Alliance (ELA.S.) records 14.2% and PASOK 12.7%, according to a new Interview poll for POLITIC published on Sept. 29.
The poll shows PASOK narrowing the gap with ELA.S., with the two parties separated by 1.5 percentage points. The survey also records a 2.7-point increase for PASOK compared with the previous August measurement.
The Greek Solution follows with 7.9%, the Communist Party of Greece with 6%, Hope for Democracy with 4% and Voice of Reason with 3.5%.
MeRA25 records 3%, Course of Freedom 2.7% and SYRIZA 2%. The Democrats stand at 1.3%, Niki at 0.6% and New Left at 0.3%. Another party is selected by 6%, while 9.1% remain undecided.
Mitsotakis leads on government trust
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis remains the leading choice when respondents are asked whom they trust to govern the country, with 30.9%.
“No one” follows at 18.9%, while former prime minister Alexis Tsipras records 15.7%. PASOK leader Nikos Androulakis is at 10.1%.
Kyriakos Velopoulos records 5.2%, Dimitris Koutsoumbas 4.6%, Maria Karystianou 3.7%, Yanis Varoufakis 3.4%, Afroditi Latinopoulou 2.5% and Zoe Konstantopoulou 2.3%.
Most voters say they will vote for a preferred option
The poll finds that 64% of respondents say their vote in the next election will be based primarily on which political force they want to govern.
Another 25% say they will vote mainly on the basis of which political force they want to leave government, while 11% give another answer.
PASOK proposal gets highest approval in policy test
Among proposals discussed at this year’s Thessaloniki International Fair, the PASOK proposal for a gradual restoration of a 13th salary and 13th pension receives the highest assessment for feasibility.
According to the poll, 57% consider the proposal implementable, while 39% view it mainly as a political communication slogan.
The proposed savings fund for the younger generation is considered feasible by 34% and a communication slogan by 63%.
A proposed annual 1% “patriotic contribution” on large assets receives lower support on feasibility, with 27% considering it implementable and 70% describing it as a communication slogan.
Voters remain skeptical of party switching
The survey also records strong skepticism toward MPs and political figures moving from one party to another.
Some 67% of respondents say such moves are mainly motivated by personal political interests, while 27% say they undermine the credibility of politics.
Only 3% believe political transfers strengthen cooperation between parties, while another 3% say they create confusion among voters.
Political fragmentation divides opinion
The prospect of greater political fragmentation also produces divided views.
Some 47% say a more fragmented political landscape, with more parties and greater difficulty forming stable governments, would pose a risk to political stability.
At the same time, 40% see greater fragmentation as an opportunity for political cooperation.
