Special Olympics Hellas organize national bowling games in Komotini
The event is supported by the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, in collaboration with the Association for the Care of People with Intellectual Disabilities "Saint Theodoroi" of Rodopi. Additionally, Democritus University of Thrace will provide volunteer support for the event, with students from the School of Physical Education assisting as volunteers.
The Municipality of Komotini, under its cooperation agreement with Special Olympics Hellas, will also contribute to the organization of the games. Over 60 athletes, coaches, and assistants from Special Olympics training programs in Komotini, Serres, Thessaloniki, Kos, Kalymnos, Athens, and Chania, along with athletes from the Cyprus Federation of Special Olympics, will participate. Athletes from special education institutions in Komotini and Thessaloniki will also take part.
The games will include individual, team, and mixed group competitions, involving both athletes with and without disabilities. These mixed teams will feature volunteers from the School of Physical Education at Democritus University.
The Opening Ceremony will take place on Thursday, October 10, at 18:00 outside the Kosmopolis Shopping Center, while the Closing Ceremony is scheduled for October 12 at 18:00 in Peace Square, Komotini.
