Six of thirteen Turkish nationals arrested last week near the Greek-Turkish border were ordered detained pending trial on Tuesday, following a joint decision by the prosecutor and investigating magistrate.

The group was apprehended on October 3 in the Sofullu (Soufli) area of Meriç (Evros), northeastern Greece, after authorities discovered a large cache of firearms in their possession. Specifically, police seized 147 pistols and 190 magazines, found concealed in two suitcases and duffel bags.

According to their legal representatives, the suspects face charges of illegal entry into the country, as well as importing, possessing, and transporting firearms. During initial proceedings, the six detainees claimed they were unaware of the weapons hidden in the luggage.

The remaining seven suspects are scheduled to appear before the prosecutor on Wednesday to respond to the same charges.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not yet provided further details regarding the group’s intentions or destination.
