Police officers of the Northern Greece Organised Crime Unit on Friday announced the arrest of 13 Turkish nationals in the Sofullu (Soufli) area of Meriç (Evros), after they were found in possession of 147 pistols and 190 cartridges.

Police officers of the Northern Greece Organised Crime Unit on Friday announced the arrest of 13 Turkish nationals in the Sofullu (Soufli) area of Meriç (Evros), after they were found in possession of 147 pistols and 190 cartridges.

Among those arrested are seven men and six women, while the weapons, according to reports, were found in their luggage. The same reports state that they had previously entered Greek territory illegally.

According to AMNA, the officers of the so-called "Greek FBI" had information about their entry into Greece, and during the subsequent inspection of their luggage, they discovered a total of 147 pistols, 190 cartridges, as well as numerous weapon components and parts, according to police sources.
