Rhodope farmers trained in the field
"Field day training" was given to farmers in a field within the scope of the DigiAgriFood programme in the Rhodope province of the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (EMT)
The General Directorate of Agricultural Economy and Livestock of the Rhodope Unit and the Municipal Sports Organisation of Petroupoli, with the participation of the Deputy Head of the Agriculture and Livestock Sector of the DMT State, Ridvan Hadji Mehmet, successfully organised a "Field day training" as part of the participation in DigiAgriFood, the European Digital Innovation Centre in the Agri-Food Sector.
On the occasion of this event, the functioning of the Centre and its general services were presented. The training available was a concrete example of the use of these services by direct stakeholders of the primary sector.
The main topics were the installation of electronic traps for green worm control and the introduction of variable rate fertilisation in cotton.
During the training, participants had the opportunity to learn about new technologies applied in agriculture, especially electronic traps that help early and accurate detection of cotton enemies.
The presentation included live demonstrations of the trap operation, data analysis and discussion of best practice applications.
Also introduced was variable fertiliser dose technology, which allows the amount of fertiliser to be adjusted according to the needs of the plant per area, saving resources and increasing crop yields.
Participants showed interest in the dialogues. They actively participated in discussions and practical exercises. The training ended with positive comments and optimism towards the adoption of new technologies in agricultural production.
