Rhodope beekeepers association visits MP Özgür Ferhat
During the meeting, the challenges faced by the beekeeping sector this year were discussed in detail. Adverse weather conditions, drought, and a lack of rainfall have made the year particularly difficult for beekeepers.
The representatives highlighted a significant drop in honey production, making it increasingly hard for them to stay afloat. Despite the high quality of honey produced in Rodop, producers are struggling to sell their products and have been facing difficulties in receiving the necessary aid from the European Union.
MP Özgür Ferhat expressed his understanding of the beekeepers' concerns and emphasized the vital role that beekeeping plays in Rodop’s economy. He assured the beekeepers that their issues would be raised both nationally and at the European level to secure the necessary support for the sector.
"Beekeeping is crucial for the development of Rodop. I will do everything in my power to ensure our producers receive the support they need and to keep the sector alive," said Ferhat.
The meeting concluded with a promise of ongoing collaboration to address the beekeepers' challenges and secure the future of the industry.
