Registration opens for 16th Dr. Sadık Ahmet Football Tournament in Western Thrace
Registration has officially opened for the 16th Dr. Sadık Ahmet Football Tournament, a traditional sporting event organized by the BTAYTD Young Academics Group, with applications running from June 5 to June 25.
The annual tournament, which brings together children and young people on the football field, is expected to attract significant participation once again this year.
Organizers confirmed that competitions will be held in multiple categories, including Youth Boys and Primary School Children, as well as the “Surprise Veterans” category, which was introduced last year and received strong interest.
In the Youth Boys category, teams will consist of eight starting players and three substitutes. Participants must be under 25 years of age and provide proof of student status. Matches will be played in two 35-minute halves.
In the Primary School Children category, teams may include up to 11 players. Participants must be enrolled in primary education, though students who have completed the 6th grade are also eligible. Matches in this category will consist of two 25-minute halves.
Organizers emphasized that the tournament is not only a sporting competition but also a social initiative aimed at strengthening friendship, solidarity, and community ties among young participants.
