Istanbul University History Professor Mahir Aydın's book "Gümülcine Sanjak" covering the years 1879-1912 was published by the Turkish History Association.
Istanbul University History Professor Mahir Aydın's book "Gümülcine Sanjak" covering the years 1879-1912 was published by the Turkish History Association.
Mahir Aydın stated that the starting point of the book, which he dedicated to the "beautiful people of Komotini", was the "Turkish Culture in the Balkans: Western Thrace Symposium" held in Istanbul in 2017.
Aydın, who was in the academic delegation that visited Western Thrace after the symposium, reminded that he promised to research the process of 1879-1912 in Komotini while leaving the region.
In the book, information is given about the nature, settlement, administration, people, religious structure, agriculture and animal husbandry, economy and education of Komotini Sanjak.
