Police officers of the General Regional Police Directorate of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (EMT) carried out a total of 1,083 inspections and recorded 42 violations between October 27 and November 2, 2025, as part of the “Zero Tolerance for Non-Use of Helmets” campaign. The initiative aims to promote full compliance with helmet regulations among users of motorcycles, mopeds, tricycles, and Light Personal Electric Vehicles (LPEVs).

The targeted checks were conducted by traffic police services in Kumçiftliği, Dedeğaç, Rhodope, İskeçe, Kavala, and Drama. The inspections covered both private riders and professional delivery drivers to ensure adherence to helmet requirements.

In total, police reported:

30 violations by motorcycle riders,

4 violations by motorcycle passengers, and

8 violations by LPEV riders.

In addition to enforcement actions, police officers in Rhodope and Kavala organized awareness sessions in their respective regions, focusing on the importance of helmet use, road safety, and traffic education, and distributed informational leaflets to local residents.

In an official statement, the General Regional Police Directorate of EMT emphasized:

“Drivers and passengers must always wear helmets — their use drastically reduces the risk of serious injury in the event of an accident.”

The Directorate further confirmed that inspections will continue across the entire Eastern Macedonia and Thrace region with undiminished intensity
