Turkish minority primary schools, which provide education in Turkish and Greek, continue to be closed in Western Thrace due to the lack of students.

With the decision of the Ministry of National Education and Religion, it was decided to close nine more minority primary schools this year.

According to the written statement made by the Eastern Macedonia - Thrace State Primary and Secondary Education Directorate affiliated to the Ministry of Education, a total of nine Turkish minority primary schools, seven in Rhodope and two in Xanthi, are closed.
It was stated that Turkish minority schools, which were announced to be closed before the 2023-2024 academic year, were closed due to the shortage of students.

After this decision, the number of Turkish minority primary schools in Western Thrace will have decreased from 99 to 92 as of the year of 2023.

The Turkish minority primary schools, which were announced to be closed, are as follows:

2- Değirmendere Minority Primary School
3- Hacımustafaköy Minority Primary School
4- Gerdeme Minority Primary School
5- Ortakişla Minority Primary School
6- Sasallı Minority Primary School
7- Baraklı Minority Primary School

XANTHI

1- Salıncak Minority Primary School
2- Mizanli Minority Primary School
