Poet Mümin Ali, who lyrically portrays the history, emotions, and cultural heritage of Balkan Turks, has released his third poetry collection, Balkan Türküsü, to literary enthusiasts. Having previously earned acclaim with his books Emanet – Kelimeler Ötesi and Güneşi İpe Astık, Ali aims with this new work to make a profound contribution to both Balkan and Turkish literature.

Balkan Türküsü is more than just a poetry book; it is a manifesto of loyalty where migration, loneliness, and cultural memory are poetically inscribed.

From Radoviš to Štip, from Tetovo to Skopje, and then to Istanbul, the verses weave a literary journey filled with the voice, heart, and memory of the Balkan region. The poet’s deep connection to his homeland and the Turkish language resonates throughout each poem.

The book’s poems capture a wide emotional landscape—from abandoned mosque minarets and silent cries along migration paths to the lonely streets of Istanbul and the bazaars of Skopje. Themes of migration, separation, longing, and solidarity are deeply felt on every page.

In their forewords, Prof. Dr. Ertuğrul Karakuş and fiction writer Dr. Özlem Kurt emphasize that the book carries not only personal feelings but also a collective historical memory. Balkan Türküsü serves as a cultural bridge preserving the Balkan heritage for future generations.

Using the rich expressive power of the Turkish language, Mümin Ali builds a poetic bridge between modernity and tradition. This work stands as an inspiring voice not only for Turkish-speaking poets in the Balkans but for the entire Turkish world.

Balkan Türküsü is a poetic journey tracing the footprints of the past and seeking lost faces—an artistic expression that elevates the shared voice of the Balkans and the broader Turkish world through Mümin Ali’s pen.
