MP Ferhat announces compensation for livestock farmers
Rodopi MP Özgür Ferhat delivered uplifting news for small livestock farmers affected by outbreaks of plague and smallpox. He announced that compensation funds would be transferred to provincial accounts next week and credited to farmers’ accounts within 10 days.
Ferhat highlighted his commitment to the issue, stating, "As someone raised in Rodopi, I cannot remain indifferent to the hardships faced by our livestock farmers." He also emphasized his persistent efforts with the Minister of Agriculture and Food to increase compensation rates, which led to the planned transfer of funds to the provincial treasury.
Key Points of the Announcement:
Prioritization of Rodopi: Among the hardest-hit regions, Rodopi will receive priority payments totaling €500,000 for the first and second waves of outbreaks.
Direct Payments: Ferhat assured that compensations will not be deducted for bank loans. However, deductions for tax (DOY) and social security (EFKA) debts are still under evaluation.
Additional Support: Efforts are ongoing to secure fodder assistance for farmers.
Ferhat reiterated his unwavering dedication to improving the livelihoods of Rodopi's residents despite challenges.
