MP Baran: The post office in Echinos should not close

Xanthi PASOK Deputy Burhan Baran brought up the issue of closing the post office in Şahin (Echinos) in his parliamentary question.
Xanthi PASOK Deputy Burhan Baran brought up the issue of closing the post office in Şahin in his parliamentary question.
In his parliamentary question dated March 31, Baran stated that the situation in question caused concern among the people living in the region.
In his parliamentary question addressed to the Minister of Digital Management Kiriakos Pierakakis, Baran said that the post office in Şahin village serves approximately 8 thousand people and drew the attention to the fact that the thought of its final closure would make the lives of Şahin and those living in the vicinity seriously difficult.
Deputy Baran stated the following in his parliamentary question:
“The thought of closing down the unit of ELTA (State Post Office) located in Ehinos ( Şahin ) village, which belongs to Miki (Mustafçova) Municipality, has worried our local people and people living in the surrounding area.
Currently, the post office in Ehinos ( Şahin ) serves approximately 8,000 citizens and business owners. Also only Echinos provides financial services and courier services not only to its people but also to the entire Balkan branch.
In addition to all kinds of postal transactions, pension payments, tax payments, electricity and water bills and many other transactions are made through this post office.
In case of permanent closure of the post office, those who work there will unfortunately have to go to the post offices further away.
Another situation arising from the morphology of the Balkan branch is that the distances of the settlement areas are very far from each other in kilometers.
Generally, the centers that have the authority to take state decisions are located in big cities, and of course, the people who take these decisions have many alternatives to meet their daily needs. It is therefore very difficult for them to understand how vital the closure of a local post office is.
In addition, access to many services in the region we live in is both more difficult and more expensive.
Finally, I would like to point out that the decisions taken by the central administration of the ELTA (State Post Office Institution) caused a decrease in the number of civil servants of the institution and an increase in contract workers.
While the shortage of workers, which occurred from time to time, caused the civil servants to work more intensively, respectively, it caused the disruption of the service provided and, unfortunately, operational difficulties in the local post offices.
Citizens of Xanthi (Xanthi) Province do not deserve the treatment of second class citizens. Only the government is responsible for the development or decline of our region, and therefore I ask the competent minister;
What kind of decisions do you intend to take regarding not closing the post office in Ehinos (Şahin), which belongs to Miki (Mustafçova) Municipality of Xanthi Province?
