Mesut Mehmet attends "Management of Stray Animals" meeting in Athens

Deputy Mayor of Komotini, Mesut Mehmet, participated in the 1st Panhellenic Meeting on the Management of Stray Animals for Municipal Officials and Service Managers held in Athens.
Organized by the Athens-Piraeus Municipal Environmental Association and the Eastern Thessaloniki Environmental and Stray Animal Protection Association, the meeting took place on March 21 (Friday) at a hotel in Athens. Discussions focused on key challenges in the management and control of stray animals.

Among the issues discussed were:
Dysfunctional aspects in the implementation of Law 4830/2021 on stray animal management.
Financial and personnel shortages faced by municipalities in providing proper care for stray animals.
Additional concerns regarding municipal responsibilities and regulatory obstacles.

Mehmet’s Remarks
Mehmet emphasized that this was one of the first meetings where elected officials gathered to address the issue of stray animal management at a national level.
"This meeting was not only an opportunity to document the problems but also to explore potential solutions. The high level of participation from elected officials across the country demonstrates the critical importance of this issue," he stated.
