Mehmet Arif makes a proposal in favour of the fire victims, the parliament accepts

On Sunday 8 October 2023, Mehmet Arif, who was a candidate from the list of the newly elected Mayor of Yassıköy, Lawyer Caner Imam, and who was re-elected as a councillor by receiving the highest number of votes, brought the situation of the citizens living in four villages (Büyük Müsellim, Susurköy, Kozlardere, Narlıköy), especially the livestock breeders who burnt all the food they prepared for their animals such as feed, alfalfa, keel, and the citizens whose houses and workplaces burnt down, to the parliament during the municipal council meeting held on 21 August.
For the second period of 2023, he demanded a reduction in the water bills that citizens will pay to the municipality or to be exempted from payments.
The municipal council accepted the proposal of Mehmet Arif, who discussed this issue with the new mayor Caner İmam. In line with the decision taken in the council, citizens living in Büyük Müsellim, Susurköy, Kozlardere and Narlıköy, which were affected by the great fire, and affected by the disaster, will not pay 70 per cent of the water bills they have to pay for the second six-month period of 2023. Citizens whose houses or workplaces were burnt down will be exempted from the water bills for the second six-month period.
Making a statement on the subject, Yassıköy Municipality Councillor Mehmet Arif shared the following:
"Following the fires that broke out in our region on 21 August 2023, four villages (Büyük Müsellim, Susurköy, Kozlardere, Narlıköy) within the borders of Yassıköy Municipality were severely damaged.
Immediately afterwards, our institutions and organisations, under the leadership of the Advisory Board, did not delay to help the livestock owners whose plains, mountains, savings and livestock were burnt.
In order to heal these wounds together, I thought that we, the local administrators, also have a duty to do our part. In consultation with Mr Caner Imam, I took the floor at the Yassıköy Municipal Assembly and asked for a reduction in water bills or a complete cancellation of the bills.
My proposal has been accepted. In the second six months of 2023, people whose houses and workplaces burnt down will not pay water charges. A 70 per cent discount will be applied for other village residents."
