Mass boycott by lawyers of Xanthi Bar Association on Monday (07/04)

Lawyers from the Xanthi Bar Association will engage in a mass boycott on Monday, April 7, 2025, in protest against the actions of the President of the Supreme Court. The boycott comes ahead of the submission of the request to the Minister of Justice by the Plenary Assembly for the investigation of the President's disciplinary responsibility, in accordance with the Code of Organization of Courts and Judicial Officers (Law No. 4938/2022), for her interventions to date.
During an emergency meeting on April 1, 2025, the Board of Directors of the Xanthi Bar Association decided on the boycott as a protest against the selective interventions made by the President of the Supreme Court in judicial cases. Lawyers argue that these interventions violate the personal and functional independence of judges, a fundamental right guaranteed by the Constitution.
The boycott is a protest against the ongoing interference with judicial decisions, with a clear emphasis on the importance of judicial independence for the proper functioning of the Rule of Law.
