The public case on the looting of the old Turkish cemetery in Horozlu (Petinos) village of Bulustra (Avdira) municipality in Xanthi province was postponed.
Looted Horozlu  cemetery case adjourned

The lawsuit filed as a result of the criminal complaint filed by Xanthi MPs Burhan Baran and Hüseyin Zeybek was expected to be heard on Friday 17 January, but due to the end of working hours, the hearing was postponed to 12 December 2025.

In addition to the two MPs, Mustafa Trampa, Mufti of Xanthi, Ozan Ahmetoğlu, President of the Turkish Union of Xanthi, Bahri Belço, Vice President of the FEP Party, Cemil Kabza, former Mayor of Mustafçova Municipality and President of the opposition, Kerem Abdürrahimoğlu, Deputy Director General of BAKEŞ, religious officials of the Muftiate of Xanthi and cognates were present at the Xanthi Courthouse.

Mayor of Bulustra (Avdira) Yorgos Tsitiridis was also present in the courtroom.

BULUSTRA MUNICIPALITY'S CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT HAD RAVAGED THE CEMETERY

On 15 March 2022, construction equipment and workers of the Municipality of Bulustra worked on the historical cemetery in Horozlu and almost destroyed the cemetery

The Mayor of Bulustra, Yorgos Tsitiridis, stated that although he accepted that the area in question was a Muslim cemetery, they decided to build a football field and social facility on the historical cemetery, citing that it was not registered anywhere and that there was no board of trustees in the village.

Xanthi MPs Hüseyin Zeybek and Burhan Baran had filed a criminal complaint against all authorities related to the looting of the old Turkish cemetery in Horozlu village.

The hearing waspostponed to 12 December 2025 due to the end of working hours.
