Objections to the Ministry of Justice's draft law, which envisages the closure of some civil courts of first instance across the country, have yielded results. Deputy Minister of Justice Yannis Bougas promised. Xanthi Civil Court of First Instance will not be closed.

The strike campaign launched by the Xanthi Bar Association against the closure of the Court of First Instance of Xanthi brought results. Deputy Minister of Justice Yannis Bugas promised that the Court of First Instance of Xanthi and the Court of Appeal of Thrace will not be closed.

According to local media reports, the President of the Xanthi Bar Association Despina Hacifotiadou and the Presidents of the Bar Associations of the Court of Appeal of Thrace, together with the President of the Province of Eastern Macedonia Thrace Christodoulos Topsidis and some MPs of the two provinces, discussed the issue with the Deputy Minister of Justice Yannis Bugas in Athens.

After the meeting held at the Ministry building, Deputy Minister Bugas promised that the Xanthi Civil Court of First Instance and the Rhodope Court of Appeal will continue to work as they have done until today.

As it will be remembered, the Xanthi Bar Association, in response to the government's attempt to close the Xanthi Civil Court of First Instance, had initiated the action of not attending the cases.
