Kozlukebir Mayor Erdem Hüseyin met with Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Food Christos Kellas in Athens to discuss the status and evaluation process of funding applications for four key rural road projects within the municipality.

The meeting focused on accelerating procedures related to infrastructure improvements aimed at strengthening agricultural production and livestock operations across Kozlukebir.

Four Rural Road Projects Under Review

The projects seek to improve access to agricultural land and livestock facilities in the following areas:

  • Sirkeli
  • Satıköy
  • Hebilköy
  • Payamlar

According to a statement from Kozlukebir Municipality, the proposed works aim to resolve long-standing access problems that farmers and livestock breeders face, particularly in remote rural zones.

€3 Million Budget Under CAP 2023–2027

The projects were submitted under the 2023–2027 Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) Strategic Plan, specifically within intervention P3-73-1.2: “Improving Access to Agricultural Land and Livestock Holdings.”

A total budget of €3 million has been allocated for the intervention, with co-financing expected from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD).

Municipal officials emphasized the need to expedite the approval and implementation process to ensure timely benefits for local producers.

Boosting Agricultural Competitiveness and Rural Sustainability

The planned road upgrades are expected to:

  • Reduce transportation costs for farmers and producers
  • Improve safety in agricultural and livestock operations
  • Enhance productivity and competitiveness
  • Strengthen the sustainability of rural enterprises
  • Support the primary agricultural sector, a cornerstone of the local economy

Officials underlined that agriculture and livestock farming remain fundamental pillars of the regional economy, and improving rural road infrastructure is directly linked to long-term economic resilience and growth.

Commitment to Local Development

In its official statement, Kozlukebir Municipality reiterated its commitment to leveraging every available financial tool for the benefit of the local community.

“The Municipal Administration continues its consistent and targeted initiatives to secure projects and funding that support local development, strengthen the primary sector, and improve citizens’ daily lives. We utilize every available financing instrument for the benefit of our local society,” the statement read.

The outcome of the evaluation process is expected to determine the timeline for implementation, with local stakeholders closely monitoring developments.
