Kipi Border Gate modernization project going to tender
The modernization project, valued at €6 million, is part of the government's initiative to improve border infrastructure.
Panayotis Stambulidis, a member of the Board of Directors of the Public-Private Property Development Fund (TAİPED), stated, “If everything goes according to plan, the condition of the customs gate will be significantly improved by June 2025.”
In line with a decision made by the government last November, the Ministry of Interior will cover the €6 million financing for the project, while TAİPED will be responsible for managing the tender process and overseeing the implementation of the necessary contracts. The Regional Administration of Macedonia-Thrace has been appointed as the project executor. A contract related to the modernization project was signed in April between the Ministry of Interior, TAİPED, and the Macedonia-Thrace Regional Administration.
The modernization project is expected to include:
- Architectural and energy improvements of existing facilities and infrastructure.
- Upgrades to the road network.
- Provision of the necessary conditions to significantly enhance services related to passport control, customs, plant health, and veterinary inspections.
