Kalkanca youth organize Ashura event
The young people in Kalkanca neighbourhood of Komotini organised an ashura event on Thursday, 27 July.
Mevlit was recited by the youth on the occasion of Ashura Day. The event was attended by İbrahim Şerif, Mufti of Komotini, Cihan İmamoğlu, Advisor to the President of the Eastern Macedonia - Thrace Province, Mesut Mehmet, Komotini Municipality Councillor, Sadık Sadık, President of the Association of Religious Officers of Western Thrace Mosques and religious officials.
At the ceremony, Mufti of Komotini İbrahim Şerif made a speech indicating the meaning and importance of the day.
Mufti İbrahim Şerif shared the following statements on his social media account: "Today in Komotini Kalkanca neighbourhood, Mevlid-i Sharif was held by the youth of the neighbourhood on the occasion of the 10th Muharram Ashura Day. We made a speech to the audience stating the meaning and importance of the day. We congratulate the young people for this beautiful activity."
