İskeçe Municipality announces participation in Nationwide Local Government Mobilization
The Municipality of İskeçe has informed citizens that, as part of a nationwide mobilization by local authorities, a symbolic closure of municipalities across Greece will take place on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.
In this context, the Municipality of İskeçe will participate in the mobilization and announced that services at the Citizens’ Service Centers (KEP) and İskeçe City Hall will not serve the public from 12:00 noon until the end of the working day.
The mobilization follows a decision by the President and the Board of Directors of the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece (KEDE) and coincides with the day the 2026 State Budget is being voted on in Parliament. The main demand of the action is an increase in state funding allocated to municipalities.
Under the central message “Financially Strong Municipalities, Always Close to the Citizen,” local authorities are calling for a substantive reform of both the state and local government. The aim is to ensure, in practice, the constitutionally guaranteed administrative and financial autonomy of municipalities within a modern and decentralized model of state governance, oriented toward the real needs of citizens.
