All football matches postponed in İskeçe this weekend
The decision follows growing concerns over the safety of amateur football facilities after the death of a 16-year-old footballer on Thasos. According to the association, most football grounds in the İskeçe regional unit have not yet renewed their operating licenses for the current season.
Stadium licensing delays force postponement
In a statement, the İskeçe Football Clubs Association said the renewal of stadium operating licenses had not been completed in time. As a result, the necessary permits required for hosting the scheduled matches could not be issued.
The association said compliance with the law and the applicable regulatory framework remains a priority and that matches cannot be held without the required authorizations.
All matches in the A, B1 and B2 divisions scheduled for the upcoming weekend have therefore been postponed.
Association hopes matches can resume next weekend
The İskeçe Football Clubs Association said it expects the relevant authorities to complete the necessary procedures as soon as possible.
The association expressed hope that the licensing process will be finalized in time for competitive action to resume normally at local football grounds next weekend.
