İskeçe Chamber of Commerce: Sale of alcohol, cigarettes, and tobacco to minors banned
The İskeçe Chamber of Commerce has issued a reminder that Law 5216/2025, which came into effect on July 4, 2025, strictly prohibits the sale of cigarettes, tobacco, and alcoholic beverages to minors.
Under the law, minors are also banned from entering or remaining in nightclubs and bars, even if accompanied by a parent or guardian. The restriction extends to all tobacco products and alternatives, including electric tobacco devices and nicotine-containing products such as e-cigarettes and vaporizers.
Retailers must verify a buyer’s age using valid identification, and the sale of such products through vending machines is entirely prohibited.
Vendors are personally responsible for complying with the law, and violations will result in immediate penalties without prior warning. Offenders face heavy fines, and on a first offense, business licenses will be permanently revoked.
