Interventions to improve road safety and pedestrian protection in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace
This effort is being launched through a programmatic agreement with the "PERI EXELIXIS – Local Government Development Organization S.A." for the development of standard pedestrian crossings at intersections within the region. The total budget for this project is €80,000 (including VAT).
The agreement was signed by the Regional Governor, Christodoulos Topsidis, and the CEO of PERI EXELIXIS S.A., Lazaros Tsatalbasidis. The project, which will be completed in 20 months, includes the following interventions:
For the 14 signalized pedestrian crossings:
Xanthi: 9 signalized pedestrian crossings will be upgraded to standard crossings.
Kavala: 2 signalized pedestrian crossings will be upgraded to standard crossings.
Drama: 3 signalized pedestrian crossings will be upgraded to standard crossings.
For the 70 non-signalized pedestrian crossings:
Xanthi: 22 non-signalized pedestrian crossings will be upgraded to standard crossings.
Kavala: 18 non-signalized pedestrian crossings will be upgraded to standard crossings.
Drama: 7 non-signalized pedestrian crossings will be upgraded to standard crossings.
Rodopi: 23 non-signalized pedestrian crossings will be upgraded to standard crossings.
These interventions are expected to significantly improve pedestrian safety and overall road conditions in the region.
