Informational-educational actions of EKAB in Komotini-Xanthi
The National Emergency Center (EKAB), in the context of its role as a public provider of emergency pre-hospital care, is organizing from 12 to 19 December 2024 and for the 11th consecutive year, the Panhellenic Education & Prevention Week, with the central message "EKAB be SAFE - One week can literally save a LIFE!".
This specific educational action, which has been officially established as a mark of honor to the rescuers-ambulance crews, nurses and doctors of EKAB who lost their lives in the line of duty , aims to inform and raise awareness of the population on the prevention of accidents and injuries as well as to provide basic first aid knowledge that can prove decisive in supporting vital functions in critical moments.
Rescuers and doctors of the Hellenic Emergency Medical Service (EKAB) in various regions of the country will implement speeches and first aid seminars, placing particular emphasis on educating citizens in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
Participants will have the opportunity to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to provide immediate assistance until the arrival of the ambulance, enhancing the patient's chance of survival, especially in cases of cardiac arrest.
The Panhellenic Emergency Medical Service Education & Prevention Week be SAFE is implemented by the Hellenic Emergency Medical Service Education Department, with the support of local and regional bodies in regions of the country, with the aim of broader active participation and strengthening the culture of prevention, first aid education and solidarity in society.
