Frontex raises concerns over Greek plan for protecting fundamental rights

The EU border agency has called for stronger guarantees to ensure the protection of migrants’ rights and improve oversight mechanisms during border control activities. The assessment comes amid continued scrutiny over allegations of rights violations at Europe’s external borders.

The agency’s Fundamental Rights Office has previously examined multiple incidents involving alleged violations, including claims of illegal pushbacks and excessive use of force at some European borders. 

Human rights organizations have repeatedly called for greater transparency and accountability in border operations, while Greek authorities have rejected allegations of systematic illegal practices and maintain that border measures comply with national and European law.
