Forest fire preparedness meeting held in the region

The State Operational and Coordination Authority (ΠΕΣΟΠΠ) met for the first time this year to combat the risk of forest fires. The meeting was chaired by the President of the Region of Eastern Macedonia - Thrace, Christodoulos Topsidis. The meeting took place on Wednesday 17 April at the state building in the province of Rodopi.
"Last summer we faced unpleasant situations, so we should learn from our mistakes and focus on prevention," said Manolis Tapachas, Deputy State President for the Rhodope Province, during the meeting.
The meeting was attended by the vice-presidents of the provinces of Xanthi, Evros, Kavala and Drama, officials from the State Civil Protection Directorates, fire brigade, police, 4th Corps and coast guard.
