Four fines issued in ten days by the fire service in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace
A man in İskeçe faces a steep fine for his reckless actions during the fire prevention season, after he lit a fire near a forested area. Fortunately, the blaze did not get out of control and the forest remained unharmed.
The Fire Service of İskeçe imposed an administrative fine of €2,406.25 on Sunday, July 27, 2025. The man had ignited a fire close to a wooded area, violating existing fire safety regulations in the municipality of İskeçe.
In a separate case, the Fire Service in Gümülcine issued a fine of €1,750 on Friday, July 25, 2025, to a local resident who burned dry grass within a residential plot in the municipality of Gümülcine, Rodopi.
On Tuesday, July 24, 2025, another fine of €1,500 was issued by the Fire Service of İskeçe to a local man for placing flammable materials in an open outdoor space in the municipality of Avdira, also in İskeçe.
Earlier, on July 20, 2025, the Fire Service in Chrysoupoli fined a man €2,187.50 for burning dry grass in a rural area within the municipality of Karasu, in Kavala.
All four fines were issued for violations of fire prevention laws during Greece’s high-risk wildfire season.
