Measures against fires to be taken with drones in the Region of Eastern Macedonia - Thrace

The Region Administrayion has decided to purchase two drones to monitor forest areas in the provinces of Evros and Rhodope against fires. The drones will be allocated to the use of the Region Fire Brigade.
Kostas Venetidis, Deputy Head of the Region for Civil Protection, told ERT Orestiada that one of the drones will monitor the Dadia forest and the southern areas, while the second will most likely be used in the eastern areas of Komotini.
The use of the drones, which will carry out 24-hour inspections in the region with a staff of four pilots, is expected to start in mid-July. Meanwhile, the President of the Region of Eastern Macedonia - Thrace, Christodoulos Topsidis, together with the Vice-President of the Region, Kostas Venetis, visited the Dimokritos Airport in Alexandroupolis. During the visit, it was emphasised that three fire extinguishers at the airport will be on standby in case of any fire.
