Final approval for Melivoia-Dimario section of Egnatia Road's vertical axis

The construction project for the "Melivoia - Dimario" section of the vertical axis of the Egnatia Road, connecting Xanthi to the Greek-Bulgarian border, is nearing completion in its tender process. Finally, the contractor, ODOOS ATE, has been confirmed with a discount rate of 21.32%. The project involves building a high-speed road approximately 10.76 kilometers long, including the construction of four at-grade junctions. The project is expected to be completed in 24 months, with a total cost of €48.82 million, including VAT. The funding comes from the Public Investment Program.
The works include earthworks, geotechnical, technical (bridges, overpasses, retaining walls), hydraulic (drainage, stormwater), asphalt, signaling, safety, lighting, and landscaping. The construction will proceed in two intermediate exclusive deadlines: the first within 12 months and the second within 14 months from the signing of the contract.
The completion of this project is expected to improve traffic flow and road safety in the area, with the construction of the bypass for the Melivoia settlement and the improvement of the road between Melivoia and Dimario.
