EU ambassadors visit LNG Terminal in Alexandroupolis

At the initiative of Hungary's Ambassador to Greece, Zsolt Sándor, 24 European Union (EU) ambassadors held their monthly meeting in Alexandroupolis and visited the region’s LNG terminal on Wednesday, September 18.

During the visit, the ambassadors received detailed information on the terminal's operations, strategic goals, geopolitical significance, and its adherence to security and environmental standards. The Alexandroupolis LNG terminal was highlighted as a critical asset for the energy security of Central and Southeastern Europe, as well as for reducing dependency on Russian gas.

Gastrade CEO Kostis Sifneos thanked the EU ambassadors for their visit and reminded them that the terminal is set to begin commercial operations on October 1. He emphasized that with the terminal's activation, Alexandroupolis and Greece are entering a new phase in their role on the energy map of Southeastern and Central Europe.
