Alexandroupoli: What was the Japanese man looking for on a foreign tugboat?
A bizarre incident unfolded yesterday morning at the Port Authority of Alexandroupoli, resulting in the arrest of a 60-year-old Japanese national on charges of “disturbance of domestic peace” under Article 334 of the Greek Penal Code.
According to the Hellenic Coast Guard, the man was found illegally aboard a tugboat owned by a 53-year-old Greek citizen. He was allegedly taking photos and videos of the vessel without permission and for unknown reasons.
The incident raised suspicions due to the man’s unauthorized entry and unexplained behavior on private property in a sensitive maritime zone.
An investigation is currently underway, conducted by the Central Port Authority of Alexandroupoli, to determine the motives behind the act and whether there is any broader implication or security concern.
