A delegation consisting of the members of the Eskişehir Rumeli Industrialists and Business People Association visited Western Thrace.

The delegation led by the president of the association Rüştü Şentuna visited Western Thrace on Wednesday, November 9 and held contacts.

The delegation from Eskişehir first visited the Consulate General of Türkiye in Komotini and met with Consul General Murat Ömeroğlu.

Eskişehir Rumeli Industrialists and Businessmen Association President Rüştü Şentuna and the accompanying delegation later moved to the Komotini Turkish Youth Association (GTGB).

There, the guests met with GTGB President Sedat Hasan and got information about the establishment and activities of the Komotini Turkish Youth Union.

The following statements were included in the post on the GTGB's social media account regarding the visit: “Eskişehir Rumeli Industrialists and Businessmen Association President Rüştü Şentuna and his accompanying delegation visited our Association. Our President Sedat Hasan informed the delegation about the historical process, problems and activities of our association.”

After that the delegation traveled to Xanthi and visited Xanthi Turkish Union.

The guest delegation was welcomed by ITB President Ozan Ahmetoğlu and other administrators. In his speech, ITB President Ahmetoğlu gave information about the establishment and activities of the association.

“THIS STRUGGLE WILL DEFINITELY GET THE JUSTICE IT DESERVE”

In the statement made by the Xanthi Turkish Union regarding the visit, it was stated:

“Explaining the struggle against the cancellation of the legal status of the ITB after the signage of the association was dismantled in 1983, Ahmetoğlu said, "This struggle has been going on for about 40 years. I am talking about the struggle we continue as Xanthi Turkish Union, which was decided to be closed because of the phrase 'Turk' in its name. There are the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights, which have not been implemented for 14 years, regarding our association and other minority associations.

Our struggle, which believes in law, democracy and human rights and does not deviate from this direction, will one day get the justice it deserves. Xanthi Turkish Union, the oldest non-governmental organization of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority, will definitely get rid of the injustice it has been subjected to. We did not give up this belief for a second.”

Rüştü Şentuna, President of Eskişehir Rumeli Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association, also expressed his pleasure to be in Xanthi and ITB. Providing information about their association, Şentuna said that the members of the delegation, whose origins are from the Balkans, wanted to get to know the region closely. Noting that they went on a trip to Greece and Bulgaria as an association, the chairman of the association, Şentuna, thanked them for the hospitality.

The guest delegation from Eskişehir then left Xanthi to go to Thessaloniki.
