Ege and Aytekin laid to rest in İskeçe
The funeral for Ege and Aytekin, the two 16-year-old boys who were found dead in a river near Xanthi (İskeçe), was held today following a tragic week that shook the local community.
The two teenagers went missing on the afternoon of Sunday, July 6, and were found deceased in a river on Monday, July 7 after extensive search efforts.
A large crowd gathered for the funeral, which took place in front of the Muhacir Mahalle Mosque. Following the prayer, led by Mustafa Trampa, Mufti of Xanthi and President of the Consultative Committee of the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace, the boys were buried at the Aşağı Mahalle Cemetery.

The emotional ceremony was attended by:

- Burhan Baran and Hüseyin Zeybek, MPs from İskeçe
- Hüseyin Baltacı, President of the Western Thrace Minority Graduates Association
- Kerem Abdürahimoğlu, President of the Turkish Union of Xanthi
- Vice President of the Friendship, Equality, Peace (FEP) Party
- As well as hundreds of community members and relatives
The incident has deeply affected the Turkish minority community in Western Thrace, prompting an outpouring of grief and solidarity.
