Eastern Macedonia Governor holds meetings with local stakeholders in İskeçe ahead of Easter
The Governor of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Christodoulos Topsidis, visited the regional unit of İskeçe on Tuesday as part of a pre-Easter tour across the wider region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
During his visit, Topsidis attended a Holy Week service at the Church of the Annunciation in Stavroupoli, where the liturgy was officiated by Metropolitan Panteleimon of İskeçe. In a statement published on his personal blog, the governor highlighted the significance of the occasion, noting the “special atmosphere” of Holy Tuesday.
Meetings with Institutions and Local Economy Representatives
As part of his itinerary, Topsidis held a series of meetings with key institutional and productive bodies in the region. These included visits to the İskeçe Bar Association, the İskeçe Chamber of Commerce, the General Hospital of Xanthi, and the Public Vehicle Inspection Center (KTEO).
Discussions focused on everyday operational challenges, institutional needs, and broader issues affecting the local economy and public services. The governor emphasized the importance of maintaining close communication with local stakeholders to address regional concerns effectively.
Talks with Local Government
Topsidis also met with the Mayor of Avdira, Georgios Tsitiridis, where the two officials discussed regional development priorities and ways to strengthen cooperation between local and regional authorities.
Visit to Local Market
The visit concluded with a walk through the central market of İskeçe, where the governor exchanged Easter greetings with local business owners and residents, reflecting a broader effort to engage directly with the community during the holiday period.
