Dr. Sadık Ahmet commemorated on his birthday
16 TEAMS PARTICIPATED, 8 OF WHICH WERE CHILDREN
An indoor football tournament was organised in Nuremberg, Germany for the unforgettable leader of Western Thrace Turks, the late Dr. Sadık Ahmet, born on 7 January 1947 in Komotini, .
The tournament organised for the first time this year by SV Western Thrace Sports Club, founded in February 2023, attracted great interest. A total of 16 teams, including 8 children's teams consisting of Turkish, German, Bosnian, Italian and Croatian children and 8 adult teams consisting of adults, fought for the championship in the tournament.
FC STEIN THE CHAMPION
In the final matches of the all-day tournament, SPVGG Mögeldorf, which defeated its rival SG Quelle Fürth team 3-1 in the children's team, became the champion, while the German team FC Stein, which defeated its rival SV Eyüp Sultan 4-3 in penalty shootouts in adults, completed the tournament as champion.
EMIRHAN THE BEST GOALKEEPER
Denis from TSV Burgfarrnbach was the best player in the children's division and Reiner from SG Quelle Fürth was the best goalkeeper. Pljevljak from FC Bosnia, who put on a show on the field in the matches of the seniors, was the best player, while Emirhan from SV Eyüp Sultan was the best goalkeeper.
CONSUL GENERAL CEBECI FOLLOWED THE MATCHES
Among those who watched the final matches played in the Uhland Indoor Sports Hall were Fatma Taşan Cebeci, Consul General of Turkey in Nuremberg, UID Regional President Yılmaz Deliduman and managers Emre Şentürk and Ümit Kelepir, Vice President of SV Western Thrace Football Club and FDP politician Ekrem Bülent, İsmail Akpınar (CSU) and Hediye Erdem (Greens), Founding members of the Businessmen Association of Western Thrace Turks in Europe (ABTİAD) Asım Babalı, İbrahim Yusuf and Kadir Molla, former ABTFF organisation president Cengiz İsmail, writer, researcher historian Mehmet Küçük, many businessmen who provided material and moral support for the realisation of the tournament and hundreds of cognates who provided voluntary assistance were present.
MOMENT OF SILENCE
In the finals of the tournament, the children's teams took the field first. Then the adults played a competitive final. During the tournament, the late leader Dr. Sadık Ahmet was commemorated with a minute of silence.
5 WINS AND 2 LOSSES
Thanking the participants, Ercan Özcan, President of SV Western Thrace Sports Club, said that the team has achieved great success in the field despite its new establishment and that they are determined to continue this success in the cultural and social field. Stating that the team is currently drawing a successful graphic in the Nürnberg-Fürth B Klasse League, Özcan said, "Our team has 5 wins and 2 defeats so far. It has participated in many tournaments in a short time."

Fatma Taşan Cebeci, Consul General of Turkey in Nuremberg, who followed the tournament, said: "I am happy to be together in such an event. I am happy to be with you. On this occasion, we are together with our young people, our German and other foreign friends and our athletes. This is a source of pride for me. But we are also commemorating Dr Sadık Ahmet. I would like to share with you the happiness of commemorating the people who led us. We want to see our young people in every field of sports. We will continue to be on duty as the Consulate General in the field. I would also like to congratulate our compatriots for this organisation."

Işık Sadık Ahmet, Honorary President of the Friendship Equality Peace Party and wife of Dr. Sadık Ahmet, who participated in the tournament with a message, said: "The fact that this event was organised in memory of my dear husband Dr. Sadık Ahmet has made our family extremely happy."
