DEB Party President Asafoğlu stated the following in her message:
“We have been following the press and comments about our minority in the last two days from the press in great sorrow and disappointment. Especially, the explanations of Serafim the Piraeus Metropolitan are unacceptable and incompatible. In every Turkish - Greek tension, the Western Thrace Turkish Minority cannot become a target. I would like to inform the public that we are not visitors or guests of this country. We are citizens of Greece and Greece is our homeland. Therefore, no one has the right to demand that we be deported or expelled from our own land. After the cancellation of Article 19, we were predicting that; such antidemocratic and diseased thoughts have disappeared. But unfortunately we see that; such thoughts still exist. We strongly condemn these dangerous statements and the minority becoming targeted. This kind of perception is never acceptable again. "
