Davutoğlu's contacts in Komotini
Former Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye, Chairman of the Future Party Prof. Dr. Ahmet Davutoğlu after his contacts in Xanthi visited Komotini. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Davutoğlu completed his visit to Western Thrace in Komotini.
Davutoğlu started his contacts in Komotini with a visit to the Consulate General of Türkiye in Komotini. His second stop was the unforgettable leader of the Western Thrace Turks. It was the grave of Dr.Sadik Ahmet.
Ahmet Davutoğlu, visited Sadik Ahmet's grave, the founder and first chairman of the Friendship Equality Peace (FEP) Party, former independent deputy. At the Kahveci Cemetery in Komotini, Ahmet Davutoğlu was welcomed by FEP Party Chairman Çiğdem Asafoğlu and party executives. Davutoğlu and his entourage, prayed for Dr. Sadik Ahmet's soul.
Davutoğlu, who prayed at the grave of the deceased leader in Komotini Kahveci Cemetery, made statements to the minority press.
“SADIK AHMET WAS A PERSON WHO DEFENDED ITS TURKISH IDENTITY AND DID NOT DETERMINE AGAINST ANY OPPRESSION”
Making statements about his visit afterwards, Davutoğlu said, “Dr. Sadik Ahmet is in a sense the flag bearer of our compatriots abroad in the context of his relations with the Western Thrace Turkish community and the Republic of Türkiye.
The Turks of Western Thrace are our cognate society, which is connected to each other by extremely strong ties that have been passed down from generation to generation in every period, with our Turkish as a language, our identity as Turkish, our faith as Islam, under very heavy pressures.
We have always seen the spirit of “Evlad-I Fatihan” while looking at Western Thrace. In this visit, we paid our condolences to the family of Ahmet Mete on the death of our teacher.
Sadik Ahmet is an important figure in this struggle, he was a person who defended the Turkish identity with his head held high in Western Thrace at a time when the Turkish name was banned under very difficult conditions and circumstances. The Turkish name was abolished in associations but did not give up fighting against every kind of pressure.
He is a person who has been the pioneer, spokesperson and representative of the Western Thrace Turkish society and has not taken a step back in the face of any pressure.
As the Republic of Türkiye, we have always stood by our compatriots in Western Thrace. I have been closely interested in the Turks of Western Thrace at every stage of my duty,” he said.

Finally, wishing FEP Party Chairman Çiğdem Asafoğlu and her team success in their political endeavors, Davutoğlu concluded his words as follows:
“As the Republic of Türkiye, I would like to express once again that we are with them.
It should be known that; Turkish identity Turkish presence in Western Thrace will exist forever. The Republic of Türkiye will always be on the side of Western Thrace.”
Chairman Davutoğlu later at the same day visited the Western Thrace Minority Graduates Association (BTAYD).
Chairman of the association Hüseyin Baltacı and members of the board of directors gave information to Davutoglu about the activities of the association and the problems of the minority.
Sedat Hasan, the President of Komotini Turkish Youth Union (GTGB), President of Western Thrace Turkish Teachers' Union (BTTÖB), Aydın Ahmet, President of Western Thrace Culture and Education Company (BAKEŞ), Hüseyin Bostancı and General Manager of BAKEŞ Pervin Hayrullah also attended the meeting held at BTAYTD.
