'Grand Rumelia Meeting' in Istanbul
Organized with the participation of community leaders, political representatives and non-governmental organizations managers from the Balkans, the "Grand Rumelia Meeting" took place in Istanbul.
The meeting, which was attended by many guests, was held with the participation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
In his speech at the “Grand Rumelia Meeting”, President Erdoğan said, “Our brothers coming from Western Thrace, Bulgaria and the Balkans are not immigrants of this country, but their original children.” said.
Chairman of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board and Mufti of Komotini İbrahim Şerif, Mufti of Xanthi Mustafa Trampa, Chairman of the FEP Party Çiğdem Asafoğlu, Chairman of the Western Thrace Turks Solidarity Association Hasan Küçük, late leader Dr. Sadık Ahmet's wife Işık Sadık Ahmet, his son Levent Sadık Ahmet, his daughter Funda Sadık Ahmet and many guests from the Balkans attended.
Expressing that he sent his love and respect to everyone whose hearts beat with them, to his compatriots, Erdoğan thanked those who contributed to the meeting.
President Erdoğan presented the gifts, which include the commemorative coin minted by the Mint, of the Hagia Sophia-i Kebir Mosque Sheriff, which was reopened for worship after 86 years.
