Chrysochoidis from Evros: Greek Police and Armed Forces guarantee the security of the country
The Hellenic Police and Armed Forces guarantee the security of the country, Minister of Citizen Protection Michalis Chrysochoidis said on Monday in Kastanies, Evros.
Evros is protected, the minister stressed, affirming that the implementation of specific projects and infrastructures that are required will continue, in the context of the very important and huge - in terms of volume and significance - work taking place in the region.
He also referred to continuing the extension of the fence and the hiring of another 150 border guards in Rodopi and Kavala to control what he described as currently minimised migration flows. The minister reiterated that the mission of the Hellenic police and border guards is to protect the borders of the country and of Europe and they serve it unfailingly, on the basis of European treaties, such as the Schengen Agreement and the New Migration Pact, which was decided by the European Council, having gained the confidence of the member-states of the European Union.
