📢 €7.67 Million Allocated for Social Infrastructure in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (EMT)!
The Region of EMT has announced 11 new funding decisions to support elderly care and disability services. A total of €7,671,766 will be allocated for the creation of infrastructure and initiatives benefiting senior citizens and individuals with disabilities. This includes:
✅ 7 Elderly Day Care Centers (K.H.F.I.)
✅ 4 Shelters for care, education, and support of people with disabilities
Regional Governor Topsidis’ Statement
🔹 “With responsibility towards society and commitment to our promises, we ensure real support for EMT’s social infrastructure. Our duty is to provide the elderly with dignified living conditions while easing the burden on their families. We also strive to create opportunities for individuals with disabilities, supporting both them and their families, who bear a great caregiving responsibility.”
Key Goals of the Initiative
🔹 Allow elderly individuals to remain in their natural and social environments
🔹 Promote social cohesion
🔹 Balance work and family life for families with elderly members
🔹 Prevent institutionalization and social exclusion
🔹 Ensure dignified living conditions
🔹 Improve quality of life for families
Additionally, funding will support:
🏡 Supported Living Residences for people with disabilities
🏥 New Daycare & Activity Centers for individuals with disabilities
👥 Shelters for adults with intellectual disabilities (18+)
🧩 Daycare and care center for individuals with autism
