Calprotectin test for Crohn’s and Ulcerative Colitis Patients now covered by EOPYY
Thanks to the initiative of Rodopi MP Özgür Ferhat from the New Left Party, the Calprotectin Test for Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis patients will now be included in the EOPYY reimbursement system.
In response to MP Özgür Ferhat’s parliamentary question regarding the reimbursement of the test for Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) patients, the Ministry of Health announced that the test would soon be integrated into the Electronic Prescription System.
The Calprotectin Test is crucial for the diagnosis and monitoring of IBD patients and was officially priced in 2023. However, delays in its implementation caused significant difficulties for both patients and doctors. This announcement from the Ministry of Health is a welcome relief, ensuring that the test will soon be covered by EOPYY, Greece’s national health insurance organization.
MP Özgür Ferhat has pledged to closely follow the process to ensure that patients gain timely access to this essential medical service.
