BATÖB İstanbul hosts "Discussing Western Thrace" event with guest Işık Sadık Ahmet

The Istanbul Western Thrace Student Union (BATÖB) organized the event titled “Discussing Western Thrace” with guest speaker Işık Sadık Ahmet. Supported by the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) and Türkiye Scholarships, the event took place on Saturday, December 14, at Istanbul Medeniyet University’s conference hall.
The program, hosted by Istanbul Medeniyet University and organized by the BATÖB Istanbul team, brought together young participants from Western Thrace, the Balkans, and the broader Turkish world.
The event opened with a speech by BATÖB Istanbul President Hüseyin Dangala, followed by a brief greeting from YTB Istanbul Office Coordinator Fatih Hacı Bektaşoğlu.
A film showcasing the life of Dr. Sadık Ahmet and the national resistance struggle of the Western Thrace Turks was screened, highlighting his unwavering efforts. Afterward, a brief musical performance by Burak Kabza took place.
The program continued with a panel moderated by Eslem Mehmet, during which Işık Sadık Ahmet shared memories of her father, Dr. Sadık Ahmet, and his dedicated struggle for the rights of Western Thrace Turks.
At the end of the program, BATÖB President Hüseyin Dangala presented a plaque of appreciation to Işık Sadık Ahmet. The event concluded with a gift raffle.
