Awareness campaign against violence in Xanthi
The Gender Equality Committee of the Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Region is organizing a seminar titled “I Say No to Violence, I Speak Up and Do Not Stay Silent,” on Friday, October 18, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at the Art and Thought Cultural Center in Xanthi (17 El. Venizelou).
The purpose of the event is to inform and raise awareness among citizens about violence against women, a pervasive issue in society. The Chairwoman of the Gender Equality Committee, Vasiliki Pavlakaki, stated, “Violence against women is a wound in our society. The fight to eradicate it must be constant and persistent. Our initiative is aimed at every woman who has experienced any form of violence, encouraging them to break their silence, knowing they are not alone.”
The seminar will feature presentations from experts in the field, including psychologist Frosso Patsou, social worker Stella Yalama, President of the Xanthi Bar Association Despina Hatzifotiadou, and President of the Women’s Union of Drama, Aliki Tsiamura, from the Open Hospitality House. The event is being organized in collaboration with the Xanthi Bar Association and is open to the public, inviting everyone to participate in this important discussion.
