Police-involved death of Ayşe Kadri case to be reheard in İskeçe
The trial of a police officer accused of causing the death of Ayşe Kadri after hitting her with a vehicle will be reconvened on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at the Three-Judge Criminal Court in İskeçe. The victim’s family continues to demand justice.
The case, which has drawn widespread attention in the region, was postponed during the September 23 hearing. The trial will examine the officer’s responsibility in the fatal incident. According to allegations, the police officer struck the young woman with his vehicle, resulting in her death. Reports also suggest that the officer attempted to mislead authorities by claiming that an unknown vehicle had caused the accident.
Ayşe’s family, insisting that their daughter was taken from them “unfairly,” will participate as plaintiffs in the trial, represented by İskeçe-based lawyers Mihail Paterakis and Yannis Barkas.
The case has been closely followed by the Western Thrace Turkish Minority and the local community, sparking renewed discussions about police accountability and the use of force in the region. Local residents hope that the trial will reveal the full truth and hold those responsible accountable before the law.
