The villagers were fined a high amount on the grounds that the mosque in the Küçükdavutlu village of Xanthi was expanded by illegal construction on its land.

Küçükdavutlu Village Board of Trustees Attorney Ahmet Kara said that the Xanthi Zoning Directorate imposed a fine of 103,956.5 euros on the villagers of 10 households, alleging that the old school building located on the same plot as the village mosque was combined with the mosque.

Explaining that the Küçükdavutlu school, which is located in one of the least populated Turkish villages in Xanthi region, has been closed for a long time due to the lack of students and there is no question of converting it into a mosque, Kara stated that they will object to the penalty imposed legally after completing the necessary documents.
