42nd General Assembly of WTMUGA takes place in Komotini
The 42nd General Assembly of the Western Thrace Minority University Graduates Association (WTMUGA) took place on Sunday 28 January 2024 in Komotini. The annual ordinary general assembly held at Cris& Eve Hotel started with the determination of the members of the council board that will manage the meeting.
Batuhan Hasan was elected as the chairman of the council, while Neslihan Arif Osman and Semih Ömer were elected as the treasurer.
After the council committee was determined, the first speech of the meeting was made by Hüseyin Baltacı, Chairman of the Board of Directors of WTMUGA. After greeting the members, Baltacı shared the report on the activities carried out by the management during the one year he was in office.
Afterwards, the Chairman of the Audit Board of WTMUGA, Lawyer İlhan Mehmet took the floor. He read the audit report on the expenditures made by the management during the term of office and the income and expenses of the association to the participants.
The meeting then moved on to the criticisms and suggestions section. Lawyer Ahmet Kara, former president of the association, journalist Ramadan Molla, Pervin Hayrullah, General Director of BAKEŞ and Rodopi MP Özgür Ferhat took the floor in this section. The speakers presented their suggestions on the activities of the association, the lack of interest of the members in the general assemblies and alternative activities.
After the board of directors chaired by Hüseyin Baltacı was acquitted by the general assembly, the election process started.
Firstly, the nominations of the members who want to serve in the management and supervisory boards of the association in the new period were determined. Candidates introduced themselves to the members and asked for support.
There were 8 candidates for the board of directors and 3 candidates for the supervisory board. After the candidates were determined, elections were held. The names of the members nominated for the management and supervision are as follows:
